New Talents

Eli has always been his own little person with a big, independent personality. Even before he was born, he had his own opinions that he made known... sometimes forcefully. He is always exploring and finding new things... like the toilet paper. Yay. The 'new' things are always exciting to him when he finds them, some are less exciting to us, but last week he 'found' the piano, that is, he realized he could reach it from the floor and didn't have to have to sit on someone's lap to play. For now at least, I really don't mind him playing it; I always know where he is and he tires out quickly because he has to stand on tip-toes to reach, so it doesn't last for more than a few minutes.

Fixin' Things with Dad

Josh was working on the tub drain last weekend and Eli was such a big help! He held tools and watched very closely...  (sorry for blurry pictures, he just moves soooo much, you wouldn't have any pictures if I threw out all the blurry ones!)

"I found something"

"What is it?"

"That's okay, I'll hold this"

"Do you need it?"

"I'll just wait till he asks for it..."

"Oh! Yep, here it is!"

These last pictures are while he was playing with a ball in front of the door... and watching cars go by.

"Can we go outside and play?"

Happy boy!

P.S. - Eli now has 5 teeth in (including the two on the bottom), with two more coming soon!

10 Months, Park Day

Eli's 10 Month Favorites List:
  - Food! Especially pancakes, blueberries and cheese.
  - Climbing stairs
  - Touching the computer (a no, no)
  - Playing in water (baths and pools)
  - Going 'out', doing something different that normal
  - New things to explore
  - Watching people
  - Playing with cell phones

Park Day!

Last Saturday Josh's sister Rachel called us and asked if we would like to meet them at the Independence park for the afternoon. We excitedly packed up and drove over to the park! Eli is a little young to enjoy running around the park with Cousin Scout just yet, but we had a good time nonetheless. Lots of park day pictures (and you wouldn't believe how many I left out)!

I'm not sure what this expression is, but it looks like "now what?".

He wasn't too sure about going down the slide, but he can climb up!

Playing in the chopped tires with Dad.

Watching Scout ride the carousel.

Getting a little sleepy...

At this point, Eli took a nap in the stroller while we walked through the zoo part of the park. Gram and Gramps drove up and met us at the park for the rest of the afternoon; they arrived while Eli was sleeping and showed great restraint as they did not wake him up from his nap, and pretended for a while that they were there to see us instead of him. :)

Stopping for a drink before riding on the little train.

Only some ends up on his shirt...

Cousins!

We told Scout to give Eli a kiss... Eli leaned in too... it was classic!

Scout was so proud!

Waiting in line for the train

Eli really didn't care one way or another about the train...
he actually looked a little bored.

Scout was looking all around!

"What was that back there?"

Eli, looking at something inside the train...

"Is it over yet?"

Picnic dinner... Uncle Josh gave Scout a cookie before dinner!
Shhh, don't tell his mom!

"Hey! You have a cookie?!?"

"That's not right..."

"...and all I get is this crumb?!"

"Oh, a piece of apple"

Shove it in!

"Oh, no..."

"This isn't happening..."

"The food's all gone!"

"Wait a minute..."

"Nope, he doesn't have any more food either!"
So, we packed it up and took our tired boys home.

Monkey Pictures

He's pretty active these days... and when I say active, I mean the kid only stops to sleep and eat... and sometimes just sleep. In light of the constant activity, it is getting harder to take 'sitting' pictures, so I let him play with something he usually doesn't get to; a pencil. It worked long enough for me to get a few pictures!

Sharing the pencil with monkey

"Monkeys don't like pencils?"

"That's just silly!"

And we're done with the pencil... moving on to something else.

"Hmmmmm..."

He found a book!

He's very intense about his stories...

...and makes funny faces!
